What hath God Wrought?

Samuel Morse used the phrase that is the title of this first post to officially open the Baltimore-Washington Telegraph Line. This first message may seem like a random phrase, but when you think of how the telegraph system created and caused a movement in rapid long distance communication, this phrase seems oddly prophetic, asking in what has this caused. Fast forward 172 years from that first official telegraph to 2016, long distance communication is taken for granted by most. The capabilities we have with blogs, social media and ever shrinking and more powerful mobile devices, it is amazing to think back on this achievement.

I decided to open my new blog with this phrase, mainly for the purpose of, I do not know what direction I will take this blog, what I will post about from day to day or how it will move me once I get consistent readers. My initial intention is to focus on my passion and work as a designer, leader and media producer, but that will not be what this is all about at the end of the day, because that is not what I am all about.

So for now I will say this, if you want to read and discuss good information design, serious and intellectual issues, amusing anecdotes, or just my life in general stay tuned.

Cheers!

Meet Scarlet, a 2003 LeSabre, bought her on Monday, replaced the alternator Tuesday and replaced the water pump and did a full coolant flush today. More surprises and adventures are expected and welcomed.

I’ve been pretty quiet on socials for a while, a I’ve been pretty quiet on socials for a while, and after a couple of hard weeks, I feel the need to share Daphne’s memory, sorry for the wall of text. We lost Daphne two weeks ago. For 13 and a half years she has been an icon of stability in our household. She was my first dog and my children’s first dog. Rescued from a puppy mill in NC, she came to us as a pup who had been through some things and for a few years never quite figured out how to be a dog. She was anxious and fearful of most things, but would blossom into a sweet old lady of a hound with just enough patience to raise and learn from the two dogs we added to our household. She fought through more than a handful of health scares, but 2 weeks ago she succumbed to a cancer that had been quietly waiting in the wings. She was surrounded by all her loved ones in her last moments, and now we will all carry her memory with us. Rest easy Daphne, you were loved and you will be sorely missed.
